NPD Director
•Lead the conceptualisation, design, and development of new confectionery products that align with market trends, customer preferences and the company's strategic goals. •Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, competitor products and consumer demands.
•Develop and refine concept ideas for confectionery products, ensuring a balance of taste, texture and visual appeal. •Collaborate with our manufacturing partners to source high-quality ingredients and explore innovative solutions for product improvement.
•Implement and drive product quality standards for your products to ensure the consistency and excellence is maintained, identifying opportunities for improvement. •Work closely with the technical team to address any issues related to product quality, safety, or compliance.
•Collaborate with the Commercial team to manage product costs effectively, ensuring that new product development activity aligns with budgetary constraints.
•Organise and conduct consumer sensory evaluation panels to gather feedback on product attributes and make necessary adjustments for continuous improvement and innovation.
•Maintain detailed records of your projects including customer and manufacturer communications and critical paths. •Generate reports on product development progress, challenges, and successes for regular review by management.
•Stay informed about relevant industry regulations, certifications, and food safety standards to ensure product compliance.
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field is preferred but not essential. Proven experience in product development within the food industry in a similar product area essential. Customer facing experience with retail customers, ideally Marks and Spencer will be an advantage. Strong knowledge of ingredient functionality and production processes. Excellent project management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines. Creative mindset with a passion for staying updated on industry trends. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented and able to maintain accuracy in documentation. Must hold a UK Driving License with own car.
